Alona Bondarenko has enjoyed a perfect preparation for the Australian Open and added her name to the list of players who hope to qualify for the Commonwealth Bank Tournament of Champions to be held at the Bali International Convention Centre, The Westin Resort, Nusa Dua from 3rd to 7th November.

She is the reigning champion of the Moorilla Hobart International after defeating Shahar Peer 6-2 6-4 to claim her second career title. It has been a long wait since her previous triumph, in Luxembourg in 2006, but the number four seed from Ukraine played superbly throughout the week while overcoming the number one, two and seven seeds. She dominated the opening set against Peer, breaking her serve three times, and then withstood a determined fightback by Peer in the second.
"I have waited a couple of years for this title and I'm happy I won," said Bondarenko, who travels with her sister, fellow player Kateryna. "I hope it's not the last for this year. Shahar played great. We've played a couple of times. I've won some and lost some, but today was my day. I'm feeling good and I hope I can play well in Melbourne ."
To qualify for Bali a player must win at least one of the 32 International Series events held throughout the year. The Series now takes a three week break for the Australian Open and Fed Cup week, with the next event taking place in the Thai resort of Pattaya from 8th February.
