The coaching clinic with nine time doubles winner Wimbledon champion, Todd Woodbridge and Indonesian tennis player Angelique “Angie” Widjaja was again held. This time, they both trained members from Canggu Club and media invited by the Commonwealth Bank Tournament of Champions 2009, Wednesday (4/11)
Canggu Club is a members only, exclusive club located at Banjar Tegal gandul village, Canggu, Bali. Members consist of expatriate families residing in Bali. At least 15 players from the club attended the coaching clinic. “Members from Canggu Club are mostly housewives, but they play tennis really well. They are used to playing tennis,” says Angie.
Woodbridge and Angie gave instructions on forehand hits, direction of hits and the body position when receiving or hitting a ball. Another important pointer was about the grip and strong standing position.
Also there was the Russian tennis player, Vera Dushevina joining the participants. Dushevina answered many questions from the participants about herself. They also had the opportunity to get to know the Russian world class player better. “I hope they can benefit from this coaching clinic. Although they are not professional tennis players, they can play very well,” claims Dushevina.
