02 Nov 2009 | English, Road To Bali

As the host hotel for this years Commonwealth Bank Tournament of Champions 2009 with a grand prize of US$ 600.000 The Westin hosted a heavenly lunch with the players at the Temple Garden in Nusa Dua, Bali on Monday (2/11).

Underneath the heat of sunny Nusa Dua and the cool ocean breeze the players were adorned in modern Balinese costumes specially designed by Rico. Looking beautiful throughout the event, the eleven tennis players enjoyed the luncheon, including Marion Bartoli, Yanina Wickmayer, Sabine Lisicki, Anabel Medina Garrigues, Sharar Peer, Melinda Czink, Agnes Szvay, Aravane Rezai, Magdalena Rybarikova and Kimiko Date-Krumm. Two players – Samantha Stosur and Maria Jose Players have not yet arrived in Bali, after attending the WTA Championship in Doha last week.

Director of Communications The Westin, Rainata Tjoa, explained that the lunch was specifically prepared for the players consisting of a balance of nutrition required by any tennis player. The cuisine was a part of the food combining program geared for the players. The hotel had also prepared a variety of Indonesian food so the players can taste the local food.

The players then released white doves as a sign of peace, accompanied by the Westin’s General Manager Bipan Kapur, Tournament Director Kevin Livesey and on behalf of the sponsors was Commonwealth bank. The lunch was concluded by a local balinese dance performance, Belibis Dance.
