28 - I think it's a shame that Vera Dushevina is ineligible to qualify. If she does beat Anabel, they could have had a 1 set match between her and Kimi and the winner would go theough to the semi finals. The only reason Vera is not in a group initially was due to the wild card given to Kimiko, who only made the semis due to Wickmayer's withdraw. There were other players in other groups, who played better but unfortunately did not make the semis.

27 - Belgium's Yanina Wickmayer has voluntarily withdrawn from the Commonwealth Bank Tournament of Champions following reports of the decision of the Flemish Doping Tribunal in Belgium to suspend her for 12-months, effective immediately, due to whereabouts procedural issues.

First alternate Vera Dushevina of Russia takes Wickmayer's place in the draw and meets Anabel Medina Garrigues in round-robin play on Friday night. However, Japan's Kimiko Date Krumm is already assured of advancing to the semifinals from Group C irrespective of the outcome of this match as Dushevina is ineligible to reach the semifinals (having only played one match) and due to Date Krumm's win over Medina Garrigues on Thursday.
