Message from Tournament Director

With all the on-court activities for the Commonwealth Bank Tennis Classic 2008 tournament over, we are busy making preparations for next year, and the final item on the agenda for 2008 is the annual Sports Journalist Contest (LKJOR) open to all Indonesian media. This competition has been very popular among our loyal media supporters for years and it gives them a chance to display their creativity.

For you who did not see enough of your favorite players live at the Grand Hyatt Bali, we illustrate in this issue some of the off court activities that illustrate the more feminine and fun side of the players. We hope to highlight some more of the off court activities in coming issues as well.

Also in the next issue we will be revealing more about the exciting new format planned for next year, the Commonwealth Bank Tournament of Champions which will be held in 2009 at The Westin Resort, Nusa Dua, Bali. Keep in touch for more updates on this exciting new format for next year!

SPORTS JOURNALIST CONTEST

Every year as part of the tournament promotion, we hold a competition to recognize and appreciate the work of our closest partners and supporters during the event, the media. All print and media journalists covering the event are invited to submit articles produced during the tournament in the following categories: Printed and web media, which includes newspapers, magazines and tabloids; Television; Photography, and Radio. Registration is now open and we invite all media journalists to submit their articles for a chance to win cash prizes and five star hotel vouchers. Already more than 20 national media representatives have confirmed their participation in this contest, competing for US$ 7,000 in cash and prizes. The announcement for the winners will be held in early December in Jakarta.

OFF COURT ACTIVITY (PART 1)

Taking part in the Commonwealth Bank Tennis Classic includes far more than just playing tennis as the players are invited to a host of exciting off court activities. This year the players enjoyed an exclusive cocktail and dinner hosted by the Bvlgari Resort on their first night which provided the players with a beautiful setting and sumptuous dinner for a relaxed evening before the competition.

The following day, the official welcome party was held at the official tournament venue, the Grand Hyatt Bali, in their newly renovated ballroom. As in previous years, the party also featured players in a catwalk fashion show. This year clothes were provided by local designer Puravida and evening wear by the well known designer Rico Anantha. The players also wore elegant pearls from Atlas South Sea Pearl.
