| Message from Tournament Director With less than a month to go, the Commonwealth Bank Tennis Classic 2008 is shaping up to be one of the best lineups so far, with Daniela Hantuchova, Patty Schnyder, Nadia Petrova, Flavia Pennetta, Francesca Schiavone among the leading players expected. Qualifying starts on Sunday, September 7, at 10am and the main draw matches will begin every afternoon at 3pm from Monday through to Friday, September 8-12. The semi-final matches will start at 4.30pm on Saturday, September 13 and the finals for singles and doubles will be held on Sunday, September 14 starting at 2:30pm. Tickets are now on sale to be sure to book your spot to watch Asia's leading women's tennis tournament at the Grand Hyatt, Bali. | | NADIA PETROVA Nadia Petrova will bid to become the third Commonwealth Bank Tennis Classic champion from Russia when she travels to the Paradise Isle next month, joining three-time champion Svetlana Kuznetsova and 2003 winner Elena Dementieva as a Russian title-holder. Petrova has struggled with injury and lack of form at times, and she began the year by failing to get past the first round in six of her first seven tournaments. But she bounced back in style by reaching the Eastbourne final, followed by the quarter-finals of Wimbledon and Los Angeles. But her problems don't always stem from injury. Petrova admits that she can also sometimes be her own worst enemy, because if she is going through a rough patch she often makes it worse for herself. Being prepared to work hard and take the punishment needed to be at the top is what has gained Petrova so much success in the past and something that will make her a leading contender for the title when she competes at the Commonwealth Bank Tennis Classic next month. She will join other top players such as 2007 finalist Daniela Hantuchova, 2005 runner-up Francesca Schiavone, Wimbledon semi-finalist Jie Zheng and popular Swiss left-hander Patty Schnyder when play gets underway at the Grand Hyatt Resort, Nusa Dua, from September 7. | | TICKETS Tickets to the tournament are now on sale.
